Ihr entwickelt als Künstler:in oder Team aktuell eine Projektidee und sucht eine koproduzierende Spielstätte? Oder ihr habt bereits eine szenische Arbeit produziert und sucht einen Gastspielort in Köln? Das Freie Werkstatt Theater freut sich auf eure Konzepte für szenische Arbeiten, die ihr in der kommenden Spielzeit bei uns auf die Bühne bringt.

Willkommen sind Künstler:innen und künstlerische Teams, die in NRW, dem deutschsprachigen Raum oder den europäischen Nachbarländern ihren Arbeitsschwerpunkt haben.

WER WIR SIND
Das Freie Werkstatt Theater ist eine feste Größe der freien Theaterszene Kölns. Mit der nächsten Spielzeit wollen wir das Profil des Hauses weiter schärfen und das FWT als Ort des Austauschs und der kritischen Auseinandersetzung mit der Gegenwart stärken. Dabei behandeln wir die vielfältigen Lebens- und Arbeitswirklichkeiten, ihre Brüche, Machtverhältnisse und Ungleichheiten - lokal wie global. Das Programm wird sich zukünftig in jeder Spielzeit an zentralen Themen orientieren, die in Veranstaltungsreihen und Festivals präsentiert werden.

WAS WIR SUCHEN
In der kommenden Spielzeit verfolgen wir zwei Programmschwerpunkte. Zum einen interessiert uns das Thema der Ausbeutung – von Umwelt und Ökosystemen, Menschen und ihrer Arbeitskraft. Im Rahmen eines Festivals widmen wir uns in diesem Zusammenhang den Rohstoffen und den mit ihnen verbundenen Produktions- und Eigentumsverhältnissen. In einem zweiten Schwerpunkt interessieren uns neue Konzepte des Gemeinschaftlichen und des Zusammenlebens: Wie können wir uns neu aufeinander beziehen? Welche Praktiken anderen Zusammenlebens und der Koexistenz existieren bereits? Was braucht es, um wirklich frei und gleich zu sein? Und was steht dem im Wege? Ob zeitgenössische Dramatik oder Stückentwicklung, Video-Performance oder Audio Walk – das inhaltliche Interesse bestimmt die künstlerischen Mittel der präsentierten Arbeiten. Spielorte können die Bühnen, die Probenstudios und das Theaterfoyer ebenso wie die Stadt oder der digitale Raum sein. Ausführliche Informationen zu unseren Räumlichkeiten finden sich hier.

WAS WIR BIETEN
Ausgewählte Projekte unterstützen wir durch technische Betreuung, Proben- und Aufführungsräume, Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit, Unterstützung bei Förderanträgen und einen Koproduktionsbeitrag. Je nach Umfang und abhängig davon, ob es sich um ein Gastspiel oder eine Neuproduktion handelt, unterstützen wir euer Vorhaben mit 1000-4000 Euro. Darüber hinaus steht das Leitungsteam des FWT als künstlerisch-dramaturgischer Ansprechpartner zur Verfügung.

Open Call: Co-productions & guest performances at Freien Werkstatt Theater Cologne in the 2024/25 season

Are you a performance maker currently developing a project idea and looking for a co-production venue? Or have you already premiered a performance and would like to take it on tour in Cologne? Freie Werkstatt Theater (FWT) is looking for concepts for performative works to be shown at FWT in the coming season. We welcome artists and artistic teams who are based in NRW, German-speaking countries or neighbouring European countries.

WHO WE ARE
The Freie Werkstatt Theater is an established venue in Cologne's independent theatre scene. In the upcoming season, we aim to further sharpen the FWT's profile and enhance its role as a forum for the exchange and critical examination of contemporary society. Our productions will delve into the diverse realities of life and work, exploring their fractures, power dynamics, and inequalities—both locally and globally. This approach entails that each season's program will feature specific themes, presented through curated formats and festivals.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
In the coming season 24/25, we will be focusing on two main thematic fields. The first one is the topic of exploitation - the exploitation of the environment and ecosystems, of people and their labour. In this context, we are dedicating a festival to raw materials and the relationships involved in appropriating, producing and distributing them. The second theme for next season will be new concepts of communality and cohabitation: How can we relate to each other in new ways? What practices of living together and coexistence already exist? What do we need in order to be truly free and equal? And what stands in the way of this? Whether it is a contemporary drama or collective creation, a multimedia video performance or an audio walk - the artistic approach depends on the thematic interest of this piece. The space of the performance can be stage, rehearsal studio, theatre foyer, or even public or digital spaces. Detailed information about our venues can be found here.

WHAT WE OFFER
We provide t selected projects with technical support, rehearsal and performance space, press and publicity work, support for funding applications and a co-production fee. Depending on the scope and whether it is a guest performance or a new production, we will offer your project 1000-4000 euros. Furthermore the artistic direction team is available to provide artistic and dramaturgical advice on request.
